Reguarding the recent intakes to new players of HL2RP.
I want to talk about something, which I have done my fare share of aswell.
Here is a new guy :
New guy : F4 isnt working, please help
New guy : Can I be a rebel?
New guy : How do I apply for cee pee?
Here is you-
You : TRY /votecop DUDE!
You : NO BITCH HOE GO HOME NIGGA
You : YOU FUK UR MUM
Instead of telling these people to fuck off, maybe we should try to teach them.
It might get more played on HL2RP and more specifically Vortex Roleplay.
Its the responsible thing to do, and I bet if you ask a admin if you can teach them yourself, they would let you and teleport you two somewhere, while they deal with the real minges.
Just an idea, tell me what you think.

I agree. However, it is really annoying when new players run around minge punching in the middle of the plaza full of units and say /advert MUG DROP 500 OR DIEIEIEI
and attack CP's randomly like FUCK THE CUMBEIN IM GRRRRDAN FREEMAN BITCH
Teaching people early on should prevent this.

It's important to realise Minges and New players doesn't mean the same.
A minge is somebody who does it on purpose. New player just hasn't learned how to behave yet.
And yes, it would be brilliant if some players would like to teach the new ones so we can do other things.

Re: Reguarding the recent intakes to new players of HL2RP.
Books.
Two days ago, a citizen walked into the Nexus, asking how to become a cop, quoted "hey, how do i become a metrocop". No capitals, no question mark. I asked him in LOOC if he was new to HL2RP, CW, or roleplay in general. Of course, in IC chat, he said 'yes'. I added him to my friendslist and sent him all the guides on Vortex Roleplay, flagged down off CP, and followed him for a bit. Literally any time he would confront or be confronted, he'd have no idea how to /me or anything, and then LOOC would be flooded with "MINGE PRESS F4" "STUPID MINGE NOBODY WANTS YOU". This is a problem. Do we want new players to expand our community base? Of course! Do we want people that are great at roleplay and have the Half-Life 2 universe under their belt, more than new players? Of course! That's where it gets too far. I had little time to deal with him, so after I (felt kinda forced to flag up) I asked an admin to privately talk to him about roleplay. I have no idea what happened, or how long it lasted, but when he came back, the same words kept flowing. At some point I lost patience and urged him to leave the game and read the guides I sent him, but it was getting late and he decided to get off. The next day, more new players came on, and the thing was washed and repeated (however I will say that I didn't do the same to them as I did to the first player). The problem is patience on both parties. Not to toot my own horn, but I was very patient with him, following behind him and telling him if what he is doing is correct for roleplay or not. He, however, was discreetly impatient with everything, and only after he left did it come to light to me. He kept asking my questions about how to become a CP, what are the guidelines on the forums, things like that. Yes, I think that minge is a dead word. We throw it around like its candy on Halloween. In a radical point of view, I think that we should ban the word minge. New people join, are called a minge, have no idea what it is, and looks it up. Why are we calling 'trolls' and newbies alike vaginal anatomy? It was maybe funny and 'le epic edgy' when the word was first coined, but now? Now it's a dead word.
TL;DR, we seriously need to reconsider how we talk to people that aren't obeying the rules, even if they are doing it on purpose, and we have no way to know for sure. Also, minge is a terrible word and is used too much, stop using it.

Re: Reguarding the recent intakes to new players of HL2RP.
I think we can direct most new players to the forum for guides and proper role-play. I've taught many players the /me command and basic role-play skills but for a thorough guide the forums are best.

Re: Reguarding the recent intakes to new players of HL2RP.
I think it might be generally a bad idea to direct new players straight to forums to teach them. I think what needs to be done is player-to-player interaction to show them that we really do care.
The one playerbase I have always tried to cater to forever, is the one playerbase the other communities don't, are the people who don't know how to RP, but want to learn and might even turn out amazing at it.
It's important to remember nobody is born knowing how to roleplay. We were all taught it at some point. TEACH IT!

On the server interaction is great as you can help them with the direct flaws you're seeing, but if someone is directly fresh to RP, a guide can be beneficial as they can see if serious RP is for them or not. A happy balance, leaning towards on server teaching.

I agree, people need to start handing out pointers to inexperienced people. That's the kind of thing that may lead towards us recognizing you for staff.

I try to tell admins to tp me somewhere to teach, and I'm just...told no. .-.

You don't need a teleport to teach. Bring them into a quiet room. Just recently a guy came up to me with questions. I had a good long discussion with him, leading to sending him a full out guide. This whole discussion was at the GrottoCP and it went fine.
