To Love Roleplay Empty To Love Roleplay

Vortex has been hit hard with an attack from the outside, but assisted from someone once within its fold. Indeed, it was an attack out of malice and anger, perhaps out of desperation and even fear. Regardless of its motivations, I post today to offer my support for the community.

I have been roleplaying since I was eight years old and have seen many greats come under scrutiny. From forums being hacked or brought down entirely, to server communities being shut down by constant DDoS onslaughts, I have seen the worst that can come to anyone that belongs to the niche we call 'roleplayers'. It comes with the territory, I'm afraid to say, as some see it as a business venture or a personal stake where other communities are not competition but instead they are the enemy. This mentality is ultimately damaging to all involved. Reputations will be ruined, grudges will be created, and anger will fester. I do not have all of the information about what happened, but quite frankly I have enough to give my support to the community of Vortex Gaming.

What has happened is the worst part of the roleplay world and I hope to never see it happen again, but I do have this to say: you all can rebuild. The community's still here and Sheeplie has shown he's not ready to quit. To me, roleplay is remarkable as it is a story told by a group and is a shared experience that very few mediums could ever hope to match. As co-owner of another community, I understand the stress that comes with directed attacks and I hope to never have it happen to us, but I refuse to simply sit idly by as a community is attacked over a personal grudge. This is about a group of people having a great time together to tell a story that may never happen again. Sometimes it can be horribly bad but it can also be unbelievably exciting. While I am not a frequent member of the server, I hope to bring some positivity back to the community. Look to your administrative staff. Look to one another. Look to other communities. There may be differences present, but there is still a story to be told so strike out and tell it together, but never strike out to get revenge.

To Kerm, I will not lay full blame. You did not delete the server contents, as you have repeated over and over, but you still provided the information needed to do so with full knowledge that Soviet had malicious intent. You hoped to avoid guilt, but your reputation will be sullied by this regardless of how you try to explain yourself. No doubt there is more to this than what I'm seeing, but you and those clearly in the know absolutely refuse to share it, so until you're willing to divulge everything, the community will see you as a villain.

To Soviet, you are what is wrong with the serious RP community. You seek to destroy with the mentality of personal gain, be it solely for yourself or hoping to eliminate competition. I don't know enough about you to have any sympathy for you in the slightest and I certainly hope you do not continue your attacks on other communities as even minges are short lived, but destroying communities causes irreparable harm in the long run. We need communities up and running so players can learn as not a single community does everything correctly.

To Sheeplie, I hardly know you but I will offer you my support. Perhaps you did something to merit anger, perhaps you may have even deserved some sort of telling off, but no server owner, no matter how cruel or unkind, deserves this. Coming under attack is stressful but it is not the first time this has ever happened, nor is it the first time I've seen it unfold. Remain positive and work harder with your staff than ever. Come out on top and do not retaliate. Show you are willing to retain your integrity as that in itself is enough for a community to rally behind.

To the community, I cannot promise to be very active but I can promise to, at the very least, be here to offer kind words or advice when asked. I have seen worse things happen to communities and when it happened with them, the community surrounding it did not have a dedicated playerbase. Do not lash out as you are only serving to justify the actions done against Vortex if you do so. Hone your roleplaying, read up on guides, create guides of your own, tell a new story.

Because when you become part of a community, it shouldn't be for yourself alone, it should be because you want to see it grow and prosper. I do not help communities like I do for personal gain, but simply because I love roleplay and hope to make it more enjoyable for everyone.

Than you for reading. Have a fantastic day.

What you said about me was completely true,
I've been explaining the full story to a person named Trix, no doubt he will release it all soon for the people who are confused.

Not sure who to believe, so I'll believe this. This seems pretty comprehensive and truthful.

Kemerd might as well have deleted the contents himself by giving out the information willingly, he is just as deserving of the blame as Soviet. He's just trying to avoid the wrath he rightfully deserves. It would not surprise me if that was his intention all along.

No matter what happens, simply take it in stride. Vortex will be hurt by this, but remaining positive is the first step, communication being the next. I have faith the staff can hold everything together. Some have already chosen to leave, and I don't begrudge them, but everyone calling them disloyal or destructive miss the case many put forward: they're leaving because they're stressed. They'll be back in some cases, they'll post in others, and with the rest they may not return, but remember that those leaving were there when the attack happened. Lashing out at people that could do nothing about it and, in some cases, feel helpless for it will do nothing to salvage what Vortex has. I recommend community cohesiveness, but not to the point where people that leave are labeled as disloyal. Focus on the great things that have happened, work with the staff to repair what can be repaired, and simply shrug off what you can. This is a community, after all, and a community is at its strongest when it isn't lashing out at throats.
